The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

On the menu: one cup of young love, one cup of complicated adult relationships, two tablespoons past wounds, and a dash of the strange and wondrous. Follow your senses to the town of Mullaby, North Carolina, where things are a little different and the wallpaper changes right before your eyes.

If you enjoy a touch of magic and whimsy in a small-town setting, you will enjoy this quick and quirky novel. Julia is struggling to find a sense of home and belonging, while Emily is on a quest to uncover the truth about her past. Their stories unfold side by side, intertwining in unexpected and heartwarming ways.

This book shows us the past doesn’t have to define us and sometimes change, no matter how painful, can lead to something unexpectedly beautiful.

If you’ve never read one of Sarah Addison Allen’s books, I highly recommend you do! They’re so fun and full of magical yet ordinary and relatable characters. Her books take place in North Carolina (my home state), and she is from Asheville (the town I grew up in).
