Welcome to the town of Mitford. Small town charm abounds in this North Carolina village. Colorful characters dot the landscape from rough and tumble Dooley, the orphaned boy, to children’s book author and illustrator Cynthia, the lovely and talented neighbor who is a tad forgetful.
Meet Tim, our main character and rector of The Lord’s Chapel, who goes out of his way to help everyone, sometimes at the expense of his own health. Easily my favorite character, Tim is funny, serious, and kindhearted. He takes up running to improve his health and I can only imagine how the town enjoyed spotting this portly man all over town in his jogging suit.
The members of his parish are relatable with my small town and small church experience. They gossip (without malice) and some enjoy matchmaking the single townsfolk.
You will enjoy getting to know the residents of Mitford. They will make you laugh alongside their funny stories and mishaps. You will feel you are right there with them, cheering them on and enjoying a slice of Esther Bolick’s orange marmalade cake!
This is book one of a 15 book series and I hope to make my way through the entire set. If book one is any indication of what is to come, I will be taking my time, savoring each one for the cozy and feel good emotions I received from At Home In Mitford.
