Follow me to the town of Bald Slope, famous for its ski slopes and winter tourists. Once you arrive, you will meet real and loveable characters Josie, Della Lee, and Chloe. Each of these women are dealing with either a shameful or difficult past and carry their troubles on their sleeves. As their lives intertwine they are able to help each other heal and forgive, and find love and happiness for the future.
I love everything I have read by Sarah Addison Allen and can’t wait to read the others. This novel fits easily into the magical realism/fantasy genre with cozy magical things occurring throughout the book. Books appear whenever Chloe needs them, whether she’s ready for them or not. Chloe and Jake’s love is so hot it makes water boil. Josey can sense the love of her life’s arrival before he comes around the corner. Rawley comes from a long line of men in the family who are literally unable to break promises thus binding them for decades to the oaths they take.
Theme of the story: Our pasts do not define us and it is never too late to find happiness and create a new future!Pick up a copy and give this book a try! It was a quick read, even for a slow reader like myself and I was so sad to reach the end because I could have moved into the old house with Josey and lived in her closet!
